The Pittsburgh Penguins have no completed all of their preseason matches and have only a few moves left to make before they are roster and cap compliant for the start of the 2018-19 NHL season. So I wanted to take a look back and see how the team performed in their exhibition matches this year.
The Penguins went 2-3-1 through their 6 preseason games, during which they outscored their opponents 24-20 (54.5 GF%). However they were outshot 186-198 (48.4 SF%) and trailed shot attempts 317-325 (49.4 CF%). They went 2/16 at a 12.5 PP% and stopped 19/22 for an 86.4 PK%.
Matt Murray went 2-0-0 stopping 51/55 for a 2.00 GAA and 92.7 Sv%.
Tristan Jarry went 0-0-1 stopping 76/84 for a 3.99 GAA and 90.5 Sv%.
Casey DeSmith went 0-3-0 stopping 51/59 for a 4.12 GAA and 86.4 Sv%.

The Chicago Wolves began their AHL training camp on Sunday September 23. They posted an initial training camp roster on September 22 and have already made a couple of updates. They are scheduled to practice throughout the week and play a single preseason game against the Milwaukee Admirals on Saturday September 29.
As of now they have 40 players: 5 goaltenders, 13 defensemen, and 22 forwards. They should be getting a few additional players as they still need to make five more cuts from the Vegas Golden Knights NHL training camp roster. Of course there is no guarantee that they will have 5 new players added to Chicago, they could end up losing a player to waivers or making a trade, and one can even still be sent back to the WHL rather than joining the Wolves.
Next we shall take a look at the AHL training camp roster to see who is in attendance.

The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins began their 2018 AHL training camp this week. Their NHL affiliate Pittsburgh Penguins made a number of transactions the past couple days in order to reassign players to WBS and they posted their initial roster today. They have 39 players to start: 3 goaltenders, 13 defensemen, and 23 forwards.
They will eventually get a few more players sent down from the NHL, but also at some point will need to send players down as the ECHL training camps are set to begin over the weekend. However, they have mentioned they don’t plan to make roster cuts until after WBS plays all three of their preseason games, which are set for Thursday September 27, Saturday September 29, and Sunday September 30. This still gives them plenty of time to prepare for the ECHL preseason as the Wheeling Nailers play two games on Friday October 5 and Saturday October 6.
Next we will take a look at who will be in attendance and what the regular season roster could look like.

The Vegas Golden Knights hit the ice this afternoon for their first practices of the 2018 Training Camp. So I wanted to take a look at the schedule and the roster and see what we have to work with going forward.
The Golden Knights open camp with practices and scrimmages on Friday September 14 and Saturday September 15. During these practices the team is split up into 3 groups: Team A, Team B, and Team C. On Sunday September 16 they have their first home preseason game against the Arizona Coyotes.
This is the obvious place for the first round of cuts to trim down the roster. When they return to the ice for practice on Monday September 17 they are split into two groups: Team A and Team B. That suggests that either before or after their first preseason match they will send some of the younger guys back to their developmental teams.

The Pittsburgh Penguins are all in town for off-ice sessions today and they are set to hit the ice for their first practices on Friday September 14. The Penguins released the schedule and roster last night, so let’s take a look.
As they usually do the players are split into different practice groups. Team 1 and Team 2 will practice and scrimmage on Friday morning and then Team 3 will practice afterwards. On Saturday the morning practice and scrimmage will be between Team 2 and Team 3 and then Team 1 will practice afterwards. Sunday morning is a practice and scrimmage between Team 1 and Team 3 while Team 2 will practice afterwards. This all culminates in the annual scrimmage championship on Monday when the top two teams will face off for the title. Some of the under-20s may get sent back after the scrimmage as their leagues may have already started.

The first game is Friday September 7 against the Boston Bruins, then Saturday September 8 against the New Jersey Devils, and then Monday September 10 against the Buffalo Sabres. Then they will be back again next week with the rest of the team as they prepare for the NHL Training Camp.
So now we’re going to take a look at the prospects who have been invited to participate in this year’s rookie tournament. How did the Penguins acquire them, where did they play last year, and where should they be this fall?
