Vegas Golden Knights Prospect Update January 2020

I had meant to work on an update after the 2020 World Junior Championships completed but I got busy and am now about a week behind schedule. So here we go, let’s take a look at the Vegas Golden Knights prospects who are playing in the juniors, the NCAA, and in Europe during the 2019-20 season.

Goaltenders

Jiri Patera – 13-7-2 with a 2.54 GAA and 92.3 Sv% with Brandon Wheat Kings of the Western Hockey League

A 20-year-old 2017 7th round pick. The goalies are still fairly evenly splitting starts but he has turned things around and now has more games and much better stats than his teammate. He is 13th in the WHL for GAA and 6th in Sv% out of 63 netminders so far this year. Brandon is currently 3rd in the East Division, 7th in the Eastern Conference, and 13th in the WHL with an 21-17-3 record (54.9 P%).

Jordan Kooy – 5-5-2 with a 4.33 GAA and 87.7 Sv% with London Knights, Sarnia Sting, and Oshawa Generals of the Ontario Hockey League

A 19-year-old 2018 7th round pick. He was traded from London to Sarnia at the end of October after being passed up in the depth chart and then was out since the middle of November, returning this past week just prior to being traded to Oshawa. He is currently 34th in GAA and 30th in Sv% amongst 51 netminders. His numbers have improved with each trade (84.2 Sv% in London to 88.9 Sv% in Sarnia to 90.3 Sv% in Oshawa) and he appears to have been put in place as the new starter. Oshawa is currently 3rd in the East Division, 3rd in the Eastern Conference, and 8th in the OHL with a 20-13-5 record (59.2 P%).

Isaiah Saville – 7-5-2 with a 3.03 GAA and 88.9 Sv% as a Freshman with University of Nebraska-Omaha Mavericks of the National Collegiate Hockey Conference

A 19-year-old 2019 5th round pick. He has been the starter playing 15 of the 17 games he was dressed for, although his backup has slightly better stats right now and his stats have started to decline as the season progressed. He is 57th in GAA and 65th in Sv% amongst 73 netminders and 9th/10th amongst 12 Freshmen. He represented Team USA at the WJC but did not play. UNO is currently 6th in the NCHC with a 3-5-1 conference record (9-9-3 overall).

Defensemen

Stanislav Demin – 2 goal, 9 points, and a +3 in 20 games as a Sophomore with University of Denver Pioneers of the National Collegiate Hockey Conference

A 19-year-old 2018 4th round pick. He is 2nd in goals and points amongst D on his team and 4th in plus/minus. 1 of his assists was scored on the PP. He is on pace to put up similar numbers as he did last year. He is 68th in scoring amongst all NCAA D. Denver is currently 3rd in the NCHC with a 4-3-2 conference record (14-4-3 overall).

Connor Corcoran – 12 goals, 33 points, and a +20 in 37 games with Windsor Spitfires of the Ontario Hockey league

Windsor is currently 1st in the West Division and Western Conference and 2nd in the OHL with a 24-9-4 record (70.3 P%).

A 19-year-old 2018 6th round pick. He leads the D on his team in goals, points, and plus/minus. 2 of his goals and 5 of his assists were scored on the PP. He is 28th in the NCAA for D scoring. He is on pace to put up slightly better numbers than he did last season. QU is currently 3rd in the ECAC with a 7-3-1 conference record (12-7-1 overall).

Xavier Bouchard – 5 goals, 19 points, and a +1 in 38 games with Baie-Comeau Drakkar and Cape Breton Eagles of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League

A 19-year-old 2018 6th round pick. He is 2nd in goals and is 4th in points amongst D on his team but is 7th in plus/minus. 1 of his goals and 3 of his assists were scored on the PP and 1 assist was scored shorthanded. Overall his performance on the year is much worse than he had last season, but since the trade he has been scoring at over a point per game and his plus/minus is massively positive. Cape Breton is currently 2nd in the Maritimes Division, 3rd in the Eastern Conference, and 4th in the QMJHL with a 24-13-3 record (63.8 P%).

Kaedan Korczak – 7 goals, 32 points, and a +5 in 40 games with Kelowna Rockets of the Western Hockey League

He is 12th in the league for goals and 6th in points amongst WHL D. He already set a career high in goals and has nearly as many points as he did last season. Kelowna is currently 3rd in the B.C. Division, 6th in the Western Conference, and 12th in the WHL with a 21-16-3 record (56.3 P%).
